In a folded green valley between Aracena and Alájar, Linares de la Sierra rewards slow exploration. Patterned stone “llanos” turn the thresholds of whitewashed homes into open-air folk art, while steep cobbled lanes reveal a remarkably coherent historic centre. Visit the eighteenth-century Church of San Juan Bautista, the fountain-washhouse and the village bullring, then follow old paths into oak pasture and chestnut country. The signed route from Aracena offers a satisfying approach on foot, making Linares an excellent choice for travellers who value vernacular architecture, quiet streets and landscape in equal measure.
