A Green Valley of Water and Chestnuts

Galaroza sits in a lush valley where streams, chestnut trees and traditional mountain houses shape the experience. Its lanes lead to fountains, small squares and viewpoints over the surrounding woodland, while the paths towards Navahermosa and neighbouring villages make the area ideal for gentle walking. Visit in autumn when chestnut season brings the landscape, markets and local cooking into focus.

What to See & Do

Barranco de Navahermosa : A wooded ravine walk through the chestnut groves that give Galaroza its character. Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Carmen and Fuente del Carmen : The parish church and its adjoining fountain, the heart of the Jarritos festival. Iglesia de la Purísima Concepción : A second historic church in the village centre. Ermita de Santa Brígida y San Ginés : A small hermitage on the edge of town.

Water Festival & Traditions

Water and light define Galaroza's two signature dates, one in high summer and one at the start of the year. Fiesta de los Jarritos (September 6) : A day-long water festival held at Plaza de los Álamos and the fountains of Nuestra Señora del Carmen, where the whole town turns out for a good-natured water fight with small jugs (jarritos) to mark the end of summer. Cabalgata de Reyes Magos : Galaroza's Three Kings parade, staged with a living nativity, on the eve of Epiphany.
