Alájar gathers whitewashed lanes, mountain history and woodland walks beneath the Peña de Arias Montano. Climb to this landmark plateau for broad Sierra views and the sixteenth-century hermitage of the Queen of Angels, then return to the historic village for San Marcos church and quiet cobbled streets. The surrounding natural park adds streamside paths, dehesa and old routes linking neighbouring villages. It is a compact base with enough heritage and landscape for an unhurried half-day, or longer if you add a signed walk.
